Halloween Makeup #1 : Pop Art Girl

With Halloween just around the corner, it's time to get creative and play dress up! I also think that Halloween is one of those occasions which you either love or hate. Personally, I love it, but I don't always enjoy dressing up as something 'scary' or 'ghoulish' so it's nice to have an alternative. For this look, I realised that most of us would already have most or all of the items needed to recreate this, which makes it such a great and inexpensive halloween look!

For this look you will need:
Primer.
Your regular foundation.
A matte powder.
Matte black eyeshadow.
Black gel or liquid liner.
Matte blue eyeshadow.
Matte red lipstick.
White facepaint.

How To: (with a list of everything I used)
After I had moisturised, I applied my primer (Benefit's Porefessional) quite liberally and let it really sink in well. I then applied my foundation (Rimmel Match Perfection) as I normally would, adding slightly more where more coverage was needed as I didn't use any concealer. The next step was to make the face completely matte (MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural). For this look, it's best to forget about contouring and highlighting as you want the face to look entirely flat with no structure at all. Fill in the brows with an angled brush and a matte black eyeshadow (UD Crave), in a square shape, and don't be afraid to be heavy handed. The more prominent, the better. Now it's time for the polka dots. I used Snazaroo White Face Paint and the end of a chopstick to apply them. Make sure to be random when applying them as placing them in a uniformed way will not fit the natural shape of your face. Once you have done this, apply the black gel liner with an angled brush along the natural contours of your face. I did this along the jaw line, the socket of the eye, centre of my eyebrows and around my lips. The final thing to do is to apply a matte red lipstick. Try and use one as matte as possible (the one that I used was the Sleek Matte Me in Rioja Red). If you like, you can add a few flashes of white along the lips for that true cartoon look, although I didn't do this as I felt that my lips were not the right size.

And that's it! It really is a relatively easy look to recreate for halloween or any other fancy dress occasion. I'll be posting a few more looks throughout the month, although these will have to be scheduled as I'm going on holiday in a few days. The next few halloween looks will hopefully be a little more scary and more fitting to the occasion :)
